Square Lake Open Water National Championships

Registration is open for the Square Lake Open Water National Championships on July 20 and 21. Come join us for the 1-mile swim on July 20 and/or the 5K on July 21. National medals will be given for the top six in each age group and All-American patches will be given to age group winners.

Square Lake is a beautiful, clear lake just north of Stillwater, Minnesota located in a beautiful, quiet, wooded area, where you may pass some deer and other wildlife as you drive to the lake. There is a changing room by the lake with restrooms and a large beach with a marked swimming area.

The swim will take place off the beach, just outside of the designated swimming area. There will be four large buoys marking your way around the course and one large buoy marking your finish at the beach. There will be smaller buoys in between the larger ones. See the maps below for more information.

We are limiting the number of entries to 200 per race, so register early. We are already over halfway to our total number of entries and registration just opened mid-March. So far we have entrants from all over the country. We are attracting some great swimmers, and this will be a race you won't want to miss!

We are also looking for volunteers for this wonderful event. Please email nicki_phillips@hotmail.com if you are interested in volunteering. We need people Friday and Saturday nights to check people in and both Saturday and Sunday mornings for the race day festivities. We also need boats for our lifeguards, so if you have a kayak or paddleboard and want to bring it or lend it out to the race, please let us know.
